MAJF Helps Senior Citizens Stay Active
MAJF (Massachusetts Association of Jewish Federations) advocated for and received $125,000 over the past two years for the Malden NORC (Naturally-Occuring Retirement Community). The NORC brings programs like excersise (yoga classes, water exercises), transportation and blood pressure clinics, among others, to the seniors. This allows them to remain comfortable in their own homes instead of moving to a nursing home.
Virginia Fish, a resident of the Malden NORC, says: "The exercise class on Tuesday keeps me fit, and the computer class really tests my brain! The advisory board keeps our minds busy planning new projects that the elderly can participate in. We are so fortunate to have so many programs."
