Temple Emanuel has been involved with Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy since the inception of the program.  We have 26 tutors, many of whom have tutored for 7 years or more.  Our tutors are varied in background and in age. We have lawyers, insurance agents, former teachers, head hunters, administrators, grandparents, empty-nesters, as well as parents with children.  The William H. Ohrengerber Elementary School located in West Roxbury is a warm and welcoming place.  The literacy coordinator at the school is wonderful and very dedicated to the success of the program.  The tutors find their experience extremely satisfying and often comment that coming to the school is a highlight of the week.
