The Boston-Haifa Learning Exchange is a partnership of organizations in both Boston and Haifa that brings together social change leaders from the two cities. Participants in the Learning Exchange enjoy opportunities to develop socially responsible leadership in a global context. The program centers on two travel seminars—one in Haifa and one in Boston—that allow participants to experience firsthand the dimensions of social justice and leadership in America and Israel.
During their trip to Israel, Boston participants explore political, economic, security, and social achievements and challenges of Israeli society. The trip culminates in a peer learning exchange seminar in Haifa with LeadHaifa, a social justice leadership program modeled after LEAD Boston, BCCJ's flagship program. In the spring, a second seminar in Boston allows leaders from both cities to deepen their relationships as Boston participants introduce their Haifa partners to social justice issues and organization in Boston.
Goals
The Boston-Haifa Leadership Exchange (BHLE) strengthens socially responsible leaders through exploration of pressing social policy issues and approaches to leadership in Greater Boston and Israel. Through the Leadership Exchange participants will develop:
- Identity as a leader locally and globally
- Awareness and understanding of different cultures
- Creative leadership strategies for social change
- Relationships and collaboration with Haifa cohort partner
Participation
The following are programs that participants are expected to be at:
- Attendance at program sessions, click here for the full program calendar
- Participation in the Haifa Seminar*, travel dates: January 12-20, 2012
- Participation in the Boston Seminar* with the LeadHaifa cohort, May 6-10, 2012
- Committment to build and strengthen relationships between Boston and Haifa
