JCRC coordinates the greater Boston Jewish community in the promotion of Holocaust awareness. Each year, in conjunction with the New England Holocaust Memorial, JCRC plays the lead role in organizing a community-wide Yom HaShoah Commemoration Service that remembers the systematic persecution of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust.
JCRC is responsible for coordinating and scheduling programming at the New England Holocaust Memorial. This partnership creates a wide variety of educational opportunities for people of all ages. The Memorial, currently celebrating its tenth anniversary, is an important educational resource for promoting continued study of the Holocaust awareness, eliminating discrimination, hate and intolerance.
Past New England Holocaust Memorial activities have included:
-
Annual Yom HaShoah commemoration service
-
Survivor and docent-led tours of the New England Holocaust Memorial for student and community groups
-
Annual Candlelight Ceremony at the New England Holocaust Memorial during Gay Pride Week.
-
