The Massachusetts Association of Jewish Federations (MAJF) is a statewide government affairs office that works to strengthen the relationship between the Jewish community and elected officials and personnel in key government departments; advocate for issues of concern to the community; and helps its members access public funding to provide services to its clients.  MAJF is the eyes, ear and voice for the Jewish Federations and their agencies on Capitol Hill and Beacon Hill.

The advocacy work of MAJF is rooted in Jewish values of "tzedek" (justice) and "tikkun olam" (repair of the world), and our Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Agenda includes both issues of universal concern and issues of particular concern to the Jewish federations and their agencies. The Jewish people's proud tradition of pursuing justice dictates that even in times of fiscal crisis, our commitment to the most vulnerable members of our society must not be compromised.

To advance our Budget Agenda, MAJF coordinates advocacy and lobbying days at the State House, organizes legislative receptions, trains lay volunteers in effective lobbying, sends out action alerts on items of concern to the Jewish Federations and the agencies they represent and organizes letter writing, e-mail and telephone campaigns to demonstrate public support for key issues of concern to the Jewish Federations.

MAJF represents the government affairs interests of the Jewish Federations in Boston, the Berkshires, Greater SpringfieldCentral Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley, the North Shore, and Greater New Bedford. Our member federations are proud to be affiliated with a network of social service providers that deliver a comprehensive array of services to individuals with disabilities of all faiths and their families.
