2010 Election Recap

The November 2, 2010 elections brought significant changes to the Massachusetts Legislature.

Republican ranks in the State House will double (27/160), but shrink by one in the State Senate (4/40). While no incumbent Senators lost, quite a few House incumbents lost their seats, including House budget committee vice-chair Rep. Barbara L’Italien of Andover, Rep. Allen McCarthy of Abington, Rep. Mark Falzone of Saugus, Rep. Bill Bowles of Attleboro, Rep. Steven D’Amico of Seekonk, Rep. Jennifer Callahan of Sutton, Rep. James Fagan of Taunton, Rep. Matthew Patrick of Falmouth and Rep. Paul Kujawski of Webster, Geraldo Alicea of Charlton, Rosemary Sandlin of Agawam and Danielle Gregoire of Marlborough. The last three were close elections and may face recounts. It also appears that the Jewish delegation will be growing with the addition of Rep-elects Howitt and Levy, and Treasurer-elect Grossman.
