Conversation with the Candidates
On January 7th, 2010, JCRC held a "Conversation with the Candidates", co-sponsored by CJP, AJC, AIPAC and ADL. State Senator Scott Brown and Attorney General Martha Coakley individually joined an intimate group of leaders and representatives of major Jewish organizations in Greater Boston to speak about their views on a variety of important issues. The candidates laid out their positions on the upcoming budget and the social safety net, peace and security in the Middle East, economic partnerships with Israel, the rise of global Anti-Semitism, and energy independence.
The special election, scheduled for January 19th, offers a unique opportunity for citizens of Massachusetts as we seek to fill the seat held by our dear friend, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, who held the seat for 46 years. It was impressive that Attorney General Coakley and Scott Brown made time in their schedules to talk with representatives of the Jewish community in the midst of this intense campaign.
