JCRC/MAJF Highlights
- Assisted the University of Haifa in recruiting for their event in the Great Hall conferring an Honorary Degree upon Governor Deval Patrick.
- Arranged for Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor to meet Governor Patrick, Speaker DeLeo, Majority Leader Vallee, Senator Creem, Senator Rosenberg and other members of the Massachusetts Legislature and coordinated a tour of both the House and Senate chambers.
- Met with leaders from Mass Mentoring, a non-profit organization dedicated to strategically expanding quality mentoring to meet the needs of youth across Massachusetts, to develop advocacy agenda.
- Coordinated a site visit with Jewish Family and Children Services for Senate Ways and Means Health Care Fiscal Policy Analyst and Senator Pat Jehlen (D-Somerville) and Representative Alice Wolf (D-Cambridge) Co-chairs of the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs at the Age Well at Home in Brookline, a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community.
- Bringing the final candidates for the United States Senate to meet with leaders of the Jewish community prior to the special election in January.
- Participated in Senatorial Forum with Candidates sponsored by the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization at Bethel AME Church with representatives of the Jewish Community.
- Met with leadership at Mass Service Alliance to discuss volunteerism and service in the Jewish community and potential for resources.
- Attended various legislative hearings on topics such as Health Care, the Prevention of Bullying and Elder Services.
- Met with Congressman Barney Frank and representatives from the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization to discuss student loans and caps on interest charges.
- Met with Congressman Stephen Lynch to discuss his vote on the Goldstone Report Resolution and his support for the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act.
- Met with Executive Directors and lay leaders from Jewish Federations across the State.
