Israel Program Opportunities
Lehavot Mitnadvay Aish/ Firefighter Volunteer Program: The program begins with a three-day opening seminar and training course in English run by The Israeli Fire and Rescue Commission. Following the seminar, participants are placed in local Firefighter Stations throughout Israel, where they work as volunteer firefighters alongside Israeli volunteers and staff.
Pardes: If you're interested in spending a summer or a year in Israel, one great place to look into is Pardes, where you can engage in serious Judaic study, including text study, Torah, Talmud, Halacha and Jewish philosophy. The experienced faculty presents challenging courses with Havruta (paired up) study for all levels. Much more than a co-ed yeshiva, Pardes in Jerusalem offers a variety of educational Israel programs for college and post-college young people interested in serious Jewish studies in an open Beit Midrash environment.
Jeff Seidel: Among the thousands of college students who flock to Israel each year for study or travel, many are looking for a reason to be Jewish. But it isn't easy to tap into Israel's vast world of Jewish learning. It isn't easy for a student from New York or Philadelphia to look beyond the stones of the Western Wall and sense their history. Jeff Seidel and the Jewish Student Information Centers fill that need.
CAMERA is looking for fifteen passionate undergraduate students with excellent communication skills who can organize pro-Israel events on campus. Students earn $1000 and a free exclusive trip to Israel in June by becoming a CAMERA Fellows Representative.

JNF’s Alternative Spring Break (ASB) provides Jewish college students the opportunity to volunteer in Israel for one week. This trip is for young adults (ages 18-30) who have already toured Israel on a past trip and want to return to Israel to do community service. This is a great opportunity for Taglit-Birthright Israel Alumni. This year’s trips will take place the weeks of March 8th, 16th and 23rd. Students can register at www.jnf.org/springbreak. Registration is open! They should sign up today. We have collaborative opportunities by offering organizational buses. If your organization wants to recruit one bus of forty students, we will bring one of your staff for free.
The Hasbara Fellowships Educates students on Israeli and Middle East history and politics with a specific focus on issues related to the Palestinian conflict. Lectures cover topics including History of the Land of Israel, History of the State of Israel, Media Bias, Palestinian incitement and Occupied or Disputed Territories. They train students to be effective campus activists by creating and implementing pro-active, pro-Israel campaigns. This track includes training students to communicate effectively, workshops in building pro-Israel programming on campus and sessions dealing with "Everyday Activism" topics such as working with campus media, promoting events and building coalitions. Hasbara builds students' Jewish identity and knowledge in order to be effective Jewish leaders. www.israelactivism.com
The Israel Project (TIP) Media Fellowship is open to undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent college or graduate school alumni who are starting their careers in journalism or strategic communications/Israel advocacy. TIP teaches the techniques designed to increase accurate and fair coverage of Israel and Jews in the news media. Our Fellows meet with top-level journalists and use what they learn practically in hands-on writing assignments published over the course of the fellowship. Media Fellows are involved in staffing and planning TIP events and undertake in-depth research projects. One out of two locations can be chosen: Washington D.C or Jerusalem, Israel. Contact Glen Feder, Media Fellows program coordinator, at glenf@theisraelproject.org.
The application can be downloaded at www.theisraelproject.org/mediafellows. Applications are due March 1st.
