Support True Peace- Resist Palestinian Unilateralism

The Palestinian Authority is in the midst of a global effort to win support for a Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI). This resolution will be up for a vote this September at the UN General Assembly. We strongly believe that only negotiations can lead to a secure and lasting peace and that this effort undermines the ongoing peace process and could further isolate Israel.  

The Campaign

JCRC has joined AJC and many other local and national organizations to mobilize our community to speak in favor of a robust peace process that is based upon direct negotiations. This summer members of our community will receive emails with information and actions they can take to encourage the Palestinians and Israelis to engage in direct negotiations. 6 Ways to Join the Campaign

1. Attend our "Ask the Expert" event on August 22
   Please join AJC for an educational forum on Monday, August 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at Temple Shalom of Newton (175 Temple Street, Newton, MA 02465-2399) to hear from Aaron Jacob, former Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN and current AJC Associate Director of International Affairs. This will be an opportunity to learn about the possibilities & perils of Palestinian unilateral Action at the UN. RSVP at www.ajcboston.org/RestoreHope.

2. Host a Speaker
   Experts from AJC, AIPAC, ADL, CJP, and JCRC are available to provide educational opportunities for your synagogue or Israel Action Committee to learn more about efforts to support this campaign for peace. Interested? Contact Boston@ajc.org or 617-457-8700 to learn more. 

3. Reach Out to Neighbors, Civic Leaders, and Faith Communities
   Through your organization or on your own, engage friends and neighbors and inform them of this critical issue. If appropriate, you can also invite them to join our campaign. Find a sample letter on the AJC website.

4. Invite your Organization to Join the Campaign

5. Thank Countries that Support True Peace
   Leaders of five nations have expressed support for direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and opposition to Palestinian unilateralism at the UN. These countries include: Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Romania and the Unites States. 6. Write to the Secretary General of the Arab League
   The Arab League has announced its support of the Palestinian unilateral bid for statehood at the UN. Write to Secretary General Nabil el-Ararby to express your opposition to unilateral Palestinian action at the UN and voice support for true peace.
