(JULY18–BOSTON) JCRC President Bill Gabovitch and Executive Director Jeremy Burton released the following statement today:
We were outraged to learn that at least 5 Israelis, along with a local bus driver, have been killed in a terrorist attack on a bus at a Bulgarian airport. At least 30 others have been injured, four critically. As details emerge, it is clear that the victims, including teenagers and pregnant women, were targeted because they were Israelis. Significantly, this crime occurred on the 18th anniversary of the attack on the Jewish community of Buenos Aires.
We stand with our sisters and brothers in Israel and with all people of good will in denouncing this heinous act, mourning the dead, and praying for the recovery of the injured. We also support Israel and the international community in moving swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice and urge all nations to unite to prevent such atrocities in the future.
