Kaufman & Shrage Named To List of Top 50 Jewish Leaders

Nancy K. Kaufman, JCRC Executive Director and CJP President, Barry Shrage were named to the Forward 50, an annual list of the 50 most influential Jews in the United States, published by the Forward newspaper.  About Ms. Kaufman,  Geoffrey Lewis, JCRC President, noted, "this is well deserved recognition of her leadership and the important role that JCRC plays in promoting social justice in the American Jewish community."

Kaufman and Shrage join Senator (and former Vice Presidential candidate) Joseph Lieberman, Bush campaign spokesman Ari Fleischer and Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt on the list that is described by its authors, as are "making a difference in the way American Jews view the world and themselves."

Other prominent Bostonians on the list include Author Anita Diamant, Jewish Educator and Web Entrepreneur Yossi Abramowitz.

In describing Kaufman, the Forward notes that she has become nationally known for advocating a classically Jewish social justice agenda and for creating a national model for Jewish Community Relations.
