Jewish Community Expresses Outrage At Suicide Bombings In Haifa On Eve Of Judaism’s Holiest Day

Haifa is Boston's Sister City in Israel

(Boston, October 5)  The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston today condemned the horrific suicide bombing in Haifa that left more than 19 people dead – among them 4 children – and expressed condolences to the victims' families. Nancy K. Kaufman, JCRC Executive Director, issued the following statement in reaction to the bombings:

"We are outraged by the attack that took place on the eve of Yom Kippur, Judaism's holiest day, in our sister city, Haifa.  It is ironic that the bomber chose to strike at a restaurant co-owned by Arabs and Jews – a model of coexistence in Haifa.  Haifa is our partner and sister city, which prides itself at being a place where Jews and Arabs strive to live together in peace.  Our hearts and prayers on this holiest of days go out to the families of the victims and we pray that we see a day when terror and violence will cease and that the families of terror victims will again feel whole."
