JCRC To Promote Israeli Disengagement Through Television Campaign

(Boston, August 1)  Susan A. Calechman, President and Nancy K. Kaufman, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council announced today that starting tonight, JCRC will air a series of television commercials in support of Israel's plan to disengage from the Gaza Strip and 300 square miles of Northern Samaria.

"Israel's democracy is taking bold and courageous risks in an effort to protect her security and to renew the hope of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a two-state solution with peace and security for both sides," said Kaufman".  "We hope that this campaign will educate the public about this important effort and its importance for peace."

The ads will run on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" the most popular television program for progressive young adults ages 18-40.  Developed by the Israel Project, a national pro-Israel organization, the ads feature information about the sacrifices Israel is making for peace and testimony from people who will be evacuated from their homes about the impact of disengagement on their lives.  The ads will air through September 25th in the Boston, Somerville, Newton, Natick and Swampscott metro areas.
