JCRC Condemns Tel Aviv Bombing

(Boston, April 17) JCRC President Susan A. Calechman and Executive Director Nancy K. Kaufman issued the following statement after the murder of nine innocent people in Tel Aviv:

We condemn today's suicide bombing in a Tel Aviv sandwich shop. It is outrageous that any group would use a 16-year-old child to commit a terrorist act.
The JCRC extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the heinous attack and pray for the full and swift recovery of the more than 60 wounded people.

The ever-present link between a vicious act of cowardice and the recent words of incitement made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are clear. Islamic Jihad, a well-known terrorist organization financed by the Iranian government, perpetrated the suicide bombing and must be held accountable.

President Ahmadinejad has been widely condemned by the international community for previously stating that Israel "must be wiped off the map" and claiming that the Holocaust was a myth. During a Palestinian conference last Friday he reiterated his inflammatory remarks.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack, however he must follow through with deeds. Meanwhile the Hamas-controlled PA condoned the murderous act. It is long overdue for the Islamic community and Arab states to take concrete actions to stop the destructive forces in their midst.
