JCRC Wishes PM Sharon a Swift and Complete Recovery - UPDATE -

(Boston, January 4, 2006) -  Nancy K. Kaufman, Executive Director and Susan A. Calechman, President of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) issued the following statement in response to the sad news regarding Prime Minister Sharon's cerebral hemorrhage and hospitalization.

"The Greater Boston Jewish Community is keeping the Prime Minister in our thoughts and prayers as we hope for a speedy and complete recovery. The Attorney General has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as Acting Prime Minister in keeping with the established laws of the State of Israel. We have full confidence in the vibrancy of Israel's democracy which has clear processes in place for a transition of power for the next 100 days.

We are confident that Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will continue Sharon's commitment to seeking peace with security with her neighbors. Elections are on track for the end of March when, whatever the next few days bring, Israel will conduct fair and legal elections."
