Jewish Community Marks 9/11 Anniversary With Concern and Sadness
(September 11, 2006) The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston released the following statement today on the fifth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.
"The Jewish community joins all Americans in remembering the attacks of September 11th with sadness. Our prayers are with the families of the thousands of people who were murdered in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania," said Jim Segel, President.
"We have grave concerns that terror threatens Americans and people throughout the world," said Nancy K. Kaufman, Executive Director. "Radical terror organizations that misuse the teachings of Islam have killed hundreds of innocent people in attacks on London, Madrid and other cities. Osama bin Laden remains at large and continues to threaten innocent lives.
We hope and pray that all people will come together to reject the idea that religion justifies murder. Through dialogue, we can build bridges of understanding and peacefully resolve conflicts. There is never an excuse for terrorism. It must be eradicated if there is ever to be peace."
