Jewish Community Supports Boston's Sister City of Haifa as it is Targeted by Terrorist Rockets

(July 16, 2006)   Nancy K. Kaufman, Executive Director issued the following statement after the continued bombardment of Haifa, Boston's sister city in Israel.

Our friends in Haifa are suffering as rockets hit their city.  Hezbollah terrorists have targeted innocent civilians, Jews, Christians and Muslims who live side by side in Israel's most multi-cultural community.

We are grateful that Mayor Thomas Menino and other prominent community leaders who have visited Haifa, including Senate President Robert Traviglini, House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi and many others, have reached out and expressed their concern.

We are concerned for the welfare of innocent civilians, Israelis, Palestinians and Lebanese, who will have been hurt in this conflict and call on all people of good will to speak out against those terror organizations that reject peace and reconciliation in the Middle East.
