Holocaust recalled by Jewish community

By Steve Ryan
Boston Herald

Boston's Jewish community observed Holocaust Remembrance Day yesterday with an emotional program inside Faneuil Hall.

The event was presented by the Jewish Community Relations Council and featured guest speaker Lois Lowry, who wrote about the Nazi occupation of Denmark in her novel"Number the Stars."

Mayor Thomas M. Menino was also present for yesterday's activities, which included several speeches and children's performances.

The Remembrance Day ended with a prayer service, which was also held inside Faneuil Hall due to the rain instead of at the nearby Holocaust Memorial, where the service is typically held.
