(Boston, MA) October 3, 2007 – The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) will be participating in Sunday's Dream for Darfur Torch Relay urging China to use its significant influence to bring an end to genocide in Sudan.

On October 7 Holocaust survivors will join together along with Jewish leaders and community activists at the Holocaust Memorial as the torch relay proceeds down the Freedom Trail.

This event, which begins at 2:30, will give the greater Boston community the opportunity to memorialize and commemorate those lives lost and those who still remain victims of terror from ongoing genocide in Darfur. The community will stand in solidarity at the Holocaust Memorial in Carmen Park, on Congress Street near Faneuil Hall.

Rabbi Or Rose, Associate Dean and Director of Informal Education at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, will be speaking.

The culminating ceremony at Government Center will welcome Holocaust survivor Rosian Zerner, who will be representing JCRC and the survivor community.

"As a community scarred by the crime of genocide, Jews feel particularly strongly about the atrocities being perpetrated in Darfur," said Nancy Kaufman, Executive Director of JCRC.
