(Boston, MA) October 3, 2007 -- On October 8, Mike Ross, City Councilor and son of Steve Ross, Holocaust survivor and founding member of the Holocaust memorial, will provide a tour of the memorial to the Armenian Pontiff, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
JCRC took a public stand over two years ago to acknowledge the atrocities in Armenia as genocide. The Armenian genocide represented a failure of the international community to intervene against the worst possible crime, the destruction of a people.
"We are pleased that our two communities are now working together, like never before, to support each other on Holocaust and Armenian genocide affirmation and to fight denial together at every turn," said Anthony Barsamian, Armenian Assembly Public Affairs Chair. Nancy K. Kaufman, Executive Director of JCRC stated, "As a community scarred by the crime of genocide, Jews feel particularly strongly about the atrocities being perpetrated in Darfur."
JCRC promotes a society that reflects the best of American and Jewish values—in Greater Boston, Israel and around the world—by convening and mobilizing the Jewish community. Through advocacy, organizing, service and partnerships, JCRC pursues social justice, ensures a vibrant Jewish community, and builds a network of support for Israel.
