Four officers from IDF meet with local non-Jewish students

Ten students at the Academy of the Pacific Rim, a public charter school in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood, recently had the opportunity to meet four officers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Their teacher, Daniel Weintraub, a special education teacher and faculty advisor for the Model U.N. and the Human Rights Club, had traveled to Haifa in January as part of the Boston-Haifa Learning Exchange program run by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston. The exchange brought a group of Boston-based activists working in social-justice issues to visit Israel. A similar group of Haifa-based activists will visit Boston.

Boston’s ‘week of terror’ evokes Israel for Jews

Jewish leaders express shock and condolences after Boston Marathon attack

While the aftermath of the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon continues to unfold, Jewish leaders in Boston and Israel have expressed shock and sympathy for the victims.

Jeremy Burton, executive director of the Boston Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), told JNS.org, “I’m very shocked; it’s a horrible moment for our community. It’s a tragedy for the entire Boston community. It hit all of us together in a city that we love on a special day like Patriot’s Day.”

Havayah program unites students of three nations

Jewish life in Dnepropetrovsk is undergoing a revival that has been transforming the Ukrainian city in the last decade and a half...The reconstruction of the synagogue in 1999 was the beginning of the rapid rebuilding of Jewish life. Boston’s Jewish Community Relations Council’s (JCRC) Dnepropetrovsk Kehillah Project significantly contributed to the process by establishing an assisted living facility, specialized clinics, and organizations that promote Jewish life.
