CJP/JCRC Statement on the Murder of 13 year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel

By JCRC | Jul 1, 2016 | 0 Comments

We awoke this morning to the devastating news that a 13-year-old Israeli girl, Hallel Yaffa Ariel, was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist as she slept in her bed. Later in the day, two Israelis were stabbed and wounded in the central Israeli city of Netanya. Hallel’s mother, Rina, delivered a devastating eulogy for her daughter. In it, she addressed the mother of the 19-year-old Palestinian murderer who was interviewed on a local news site in Hebron and called her son a ‘martyr’ and a ‘hero.’ “I want to address the mother of … Continue reading CJP/JCRC Statement on the Murder of 13 year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel »

The Boston 12 is a group of area religious leaders, including JCRC Executive Director Jeremy Burton and JCRC Associate Director Nahma Nadich, which has met regularly for a number of years. We are Jewish, Christian, and Muslim. We are members of cousin religions, descendant of Abraham. We are family. The public rhetoric that is borne of the current election season scares us. Statement from Boston JCRC on Orlando Attack

By JCRC | Jun 14, 2016 | 0 Comments

As we complete our observance of Shavuot tonight, we are heartbroken by the news of the horrifying massacre in Orlando early yesterday morning. We are only beginning to fathom the horror, the unthinkable “firsts” that mark this nightmarish event. It bears repeating that this is the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11, the worst gun violence assault ever in our nation, and the … Continue reading Statement from Boston JCRC on Orlando Attack »

‘Mein Kampf’ proceeds ought to go exclusively to Holocaust education

By JCRC | May 18, 2016 | Comments Off on ‘Mein Kampf’ proceeds ought to go exclusively to Holocaust education

This letter was first published in the Boston Globe. MAY 18, 2016 IT IS important to keep “Mein Kampf” in print for teaching and learning purposes, and we support Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in doing so (“Keeping ‘Mein Kampf’ in print,” Opinion, May 9); however, we believe that the publisher is making a grave error in diverting funds from Holocaust education to broader educational efforts. We are … Continue reading ‘Mein Kampf’ proceeds ought to go exclusively to Holocaust education »

Statement on Troubling Boston Billboard

By JCRC | Apr 7, 2016 | 0 Comments

The JCRC of Greater Boston is appalled by the billboard recently posted in Boston’s North End that denies the existence of the Armenian Genocide. This is a disturbing affront to the Armenian community and to all decent people in Boston. As one neighborhood resident rightly says in today’s Boston’s Globe, this billboard, placed across from the Armenian Heritage Park, is “like putting a Holocaust denial … Continue reading Statement on Troubling Boston Billboard »

JCRC Condemns Anti-Semitic Remarks at High School Sporting Event

By JCRC | Mar 13, 2016 | 0 Comments

Taunting cheers at a high school basketball game took a very dark and troubling turn on Friday night when students from Catholic Memorial High School chanted “You killed Jesus!” at their game against Newton North High School on Friday night. We join with our colleagues at AJC and ADL in both rejecting hatred and expressing our disdain of such anti-Semitic sentiments and also in our … Continue reading JCRC Condemns Anti-Semitic Remarks at High School Sporting Event »

JCRC Statement Supporting Legislative Action Rejecting Economic Warfare Against Israel

By JCRC | Feb 24, 2016 | 0 Comments

The Jewish Community Relations Council supports the Israelis and the Palestinians in their pursuit of a better future. We share the belief that the only way to achieve a lasting peace includes a two-state resolution, where two peoples can live together side by side, each with a state of their own in a shared homeland. In recent years we have seen a growing campaign to … Continue reading JCRC Statement Supporting Legislative Action Rejecting Economic Warfare Against Israel »
