Pages for Peace Book Club

A book club to use literature as a tool to grapple with the challenges of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with once a month meetings in Cambridge/Somerville, Brookline, and Jamaica Plain. This year, from January to June, we will read The Lemon Tree, by Sandy Tolan. Together, we will wrestle with our preconceived notions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and how the fates of Israelis and Palestinians are, as Mr. Tolan put it, both separate and intertwined.

Upcoming Dates:

Cambridge/Somerville meeting dates: March 18, April 24, May 22, June 17

The Lemon Tree is “the true story of one house, two families, and a common history emanating from walls of Jerusalem stone on the coastal plain east of Tel Aviv and Jaffa. Through a single house, and the lemon tree in its garden, lay a path to the histories, both separate and intertwined, of the al-Khairi and Eshkenazi families, and to the larger story of two peoples on one land.”

More information will be released soon about larger community events related to the book and its continued relevance in our community today.

Please note: because these meetings are taking place in private homes, you will be contacted with a specific location after you complete your registration.
