  • Ruth Fein, ‘absolute giant of the Boston Jewish community,’ dies at 96

Ruth B. Fein z”l, JCRC’s President from 1993-1995, was laid to rest this week. In the words of our CEO, Jeremy Burton, Ruth was “an absolute giant of the Boston Jewish community, who died Sunday at the age of 96. She was the first woman to do many things, including chairing the board of CJP. She was a major force within the JCRC of Greater Boston, which she chaired from 1993-1995… She was also the founding chair of the New England Holocaust Memorial (for which we are proud to continue to run the educational content) and of the Jewish Coalition for Literacy, which we continue to host locally. There is so much to be said about her. I feel privileged to have known her in a small way over the past decades. Her memory is very much a blessing.”
