Want to get your hands dirty, learn new skills, make new friends and help rebuild New Orleans?
TELEM will be traveling to New Orleans, February 14–21
to join the St. Bernard Project, assisting in the ongoing rebuilding efforts from damage due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
The St Bernard Project works to rebuild homes for people who must rely on not-for –profit organizations and volunteers in order to afford the rebuilding process. They work in St Bernard Parish, New Orleans East and other surrounding economically distressed neighborhoods. We will stay at the St. Jude Community Center Volunteer Village with 120 other teen rebuilders from around the country.
We will explore many sights and sounds of New Orleans, tour Tulane University and the National World War II Museum, learn about Jewish life in NOLA, meet and work with people from around the country who place service to others as a fundamental human value.
Flights to New Orleans have been generously subsidized by a collaboration of the St. Bernard Project, The National World War II Museum and JetBlue Airlines.
