Topic: The Use of Violence in Zionist Thought

Violence has been a part of the history of Zionism. Sometimes it has been defensive. Sometimes it has been part of a retaliation against others for the violent acts of their own communities. This class looks at how Zionist thinkers, leaders and poets have thought about the use of force. Is it “un-Jewish” to use force against other people? Is it a strategic mistake? Or is it necessary to enact a show of power? The class looks at how all these ideas have come up in Zionism over time and the historical circumstances around the way these ideas have changed.
